BlueTooth feature request

Every want to take that bluetooth mouse from your laptop bag and use it with your desktop? How about using that bluetooth headset with more than one phone or computer? Wouldn't it be nice if there were a away to pair with multiple devices, then use the devices to request pairing?

This does actually exist in one form that I'm aware of. There is a bluetooth speakerphone that can pair with 5 devices.

Armed with that knowledge I'm suspecting that almost all bluetooth devices could have the multi pairing functionality added to them.

Let's take the case of a bluetooth headset that we'd like to pair with a laptop and a cell phone. We'd like to pair it with the cell phone, then pair it again with the laptop. Then we'd like to be able to press a button on the cellphone to request control of the headset. If it's in use, then the cellphone should notify the user that the headset is in range and working, but that it's busy. When we turn it on, it should automatically pair with the last device it was paired with. Alternately, the control could be on the headset, which would offer the possiblity to leave the cellphone in your backpack and make the call using voice calling features on supported devices.

Understanding that bluetooth devices often are minimalist, there'd probably be some limit to the number of devices it could remember to pair with, like 8 devices. So there should be a warning displayed on the requesting device if the user is about to overwrite a previously paired match with a new pair. And if the requesting device lacks the ability to show that, then it should overwrite anyway and when the user tries to use the requesting device who's pair data was overwritten the user will have to pair that device again.

As far as current wireless mice go, I'm still recommending that people buy non-bluetooth wireless mice with the smallest USB transmitter they can find so they can quickly move it from computer to computer and even share with others (like company that comes over on a holiday). I'd also add that Laser mice are much better without a mouse pad than Optical mice.
